PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of axial adjustment by stripping the external coat of an optical fiber cable partially, by burning an exposed nylon coat to be removed, molding the exposed part so as to be a lump and cutting out the mold to form a cut groove. CONSTITUTION:A part of the optical fiber cable is stripped by a knife or the like to remove the external coat consisting of a plastic coat 4, a reinforcement 3, etc. mechanically. A nylon inner coat 2 is burnt and removed by the flame of a burner or the like. Subsequently, the exposed part of the fiber strand is molded by a proper material so as to surround the exposed part. The mold is cut out partially by a knife to form a cut groove 7 including the fiber strand. Since the butt structure of optical fibers is produced from one optical fiber cable in this invention, the axis is automatically adjusted and the accuracy of the axial adjustment is improved. |
