PURPOSE:To adjust easily and with high accuracy a position shift of a head, by inclining a gap of the head against the center of a disk and writing a reference position signal. CONSTITUTION:A reference position signal of wavelength lambda is recorded by inclining a reference head 1 by b/a against the center of a disk. When this recording is read by a practical head 2 of a position shift (e), the maximum read-out output EP corresponding to magnitude and a direction of the shift (e) for satisfying the equation I is measured, and in accordance with this measured result, the position shift of the head can be adjusted easily and with high accuracy.
