PURPOSE:To prevent the intrusion of dust, by making the angles of the front and rear of a lip part, as viewed in the direction of the entrance of a rod, more than 35 deg. while making the sum of both angles more than 150 deg., and as well by fitting a ring into the outer periphery of the lip part. CONSTITUTION:If the angles alpha, beta of a lip part 2 with respect to the sliding surface of a rod 3 are made more than 35 deg., the intrusion of dust having more than 20mum particle size may be prevented. Dust having less than 20mum particle size, even if it intrudes, does never deeply scratch the rod 3, and therefore gives no affection to the function of the wiper seal. Further, since the configuration of the entire lip part 2 is maintained in a true circle due to the provision of a ring 4 fitted thereonto so that the lip part rapidly follows the vibration of the rod 3, the peak end of the lip part 2 does not deform, thereby the angles alpha, beta do not change. It is preferable to maintain the angle gamma of the lip part 2 more than 30 deg. in order to prevent the lip part 2 from moving along the rod 3 in the direction of the movement of the rod 3. |
