PURPOSE:To regulate the preload for the bearing of drive pinion shaft in a differential device easily and accurately, by transmitting the axial load of a coupling for the drive pinion shaft through an axial load distribution member to the bearing member. CONSTITUTION:A hypoid gear 10 integral with the shaft member 5 will gear with a ring gear 11 secured to the defcase. A coupling member 6 is spline fitted to said member 5 while said member 5 is journaled by bearing members 13, 14. Upon fastening of a nut 8, the coupling member 6 will preload through a shaft load distributing member 22 to the bearing member 14. Upon further fastening, the fastening force is transmitted through the shoulder section 20 of the shaft member 5 to the shaft member 5. When selecting the thickness of the shaft load distribution member, preload to the bearings 13, 14 can be adjusted. |
