<p>PURPOSE:To produce a rubber-covered polyolefin cellular body having excellent shock absorbability and a high bonding strength by a method in which an unvulcanized rubber is coated on the surface of a polyolefin cellular body, and the polyolefin cellular body thus treated is put in a container withstandable to expansion pressures at the time of heating and then heated for vulcanization. CONSTITUTION:An unvulcanized rubber is covered on the surface of a polyolefin cellular body (e.g., PE, ethylene-propylene copolymer, etc.), and the polyolefin cellular body thus treated is put in a container (preferably enclosed container) withstandable to expansion pressures at the time of heating in such a way that the covered cellular body is closely contacted with the inner surface of the container not to leave any void and then heated for vulcanization of the covering rubber. The rubber-covered polyolefin cellular body thus obtained has a high bonding strength, a high shock absorbability, and a floatability and is suitable for fenders, floating pipes, etc.</p> |
