The invention relates to a chain cable, consisting of a plurality of electrical conductor wire pieces which are arranged in a row one behind the other and are provided with an electrical connector on at least one end. The invention furthermore relates to a method for producing the chain cable, conductor wire pieces provided with electrical connectors being produced using a connector-fitting device, and the conductor wire pieces being arranged in a row one on top of the other to form the chain cable immediately after the crimping process, after which the chain cable is coiled up. The use of at least one chain cable for producing cable harnesses, especially partial cable harnesses, is particularly favourable, the chain cable being released and the conductor wire pieces subsequently being inserted with their connectors into housing chambers.
