Process for increasing the electrical surface conductivity of a body

The electrical surface conductivity of bodies which are electrically insulating per se is increased to a value of not less than 10<-10> ( OMEGA cm)<-1> at 20 DEG C by providing their surface with a coating composed of an ion-conducting plastic polymer. Polyether/alkali-metal salt complexes or polyether/ammonium salt complexes applied to the substrate by brushing, casting, immersion or spraying are preferably used for this purpose. In this connection, compounds of polyepichlorohydrine or polypropyleneoxide and polyalyl glycidyl ether with sodium thiocyanates are particularly outstanding as a result of transparency and resistance to moisture.
