The invention relates to a drive unit for a vehicle, in particular a motor car, with an engine and an infinitely variable transmission which is connected to the output end of the latter via a clutch and comprises a cone-pulley belt transmission with at least one tension means running between two cone-pulley pairs which are adjustable hydraulically relative to one another. In order, in a drive unit of this kind, to provide the possibility of cranking the engine by pushing or pulling the vehicle, teeth (19, 20) should be formed on two mutually opposite cone pulleys (14, 15) of the two cone-pulley pairs (13, 14; 15, 16), and an axially displaceable spur gear (21) should be provided which can be displaced into an engagement position in which it simultaneously meshes with the teeth formed on the two cone pulleys. <IMAGE>
