In a device for safeguarding persons at a loading station, especially for loading liquid goods from stationary tanks or the like into mobile tanker vehicles, which drive into the loading station, said loading station having at least one stairway which can be pivoted from an inoperative position onto the surface of the tanker vehicles and one cover plate, which can be lowered, next to the stairway for closing the gap between the vehicle and the loading platform and having a support grid on the side of the vehicles to be filled opposite the stairway within the loading station, a solution is to be provided with which the safeguarding of all approaching vehicles is ensured, irrespective of whether they are rail or road vehicles and also irrespective of whether they have different heights with regard to the length of the filling station. This is achieved in that the cover plate, which can be lowered, is formed by a multiplicity of narrow cover elements (3) arranged on a common axis (2) and the support grid (9) can be lowered onto the surface of the vehicles (6). <IMAGE>
