PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily confirm a present location and the state of the road of a progressing direction by seeing the map display of a map range wider than a normal display without a time delay and displaying the reduced part of peripheral parts of stored maps with a data processing. SOLUTION: Generally, in a frame memory, map data of peripheral parts of an area to be actually displayed on a display are stored in addition to map data of the area. Then, the area of the map data is divided into the A area of the vicinity of a location cursor position, the B area other the A area and the C area of the side outer than the B area and the map data of the A area are displayed with a scale 1, that is, by an original figure and the map data of the B area are reduced with a prescribed reduction rate to be displayed and the map data of the C area are reduced with a reduction rate larger than that of the B area to be displayed. Such a display control is performed in a display controller by instructions from a CPU corresponding to request inputs of wide area displays of an external input device. |
