PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the highly precise frequency estimation circuit of a wide range operation with less operation quantity by executing time base-frequency axis conversion and estimating frequency information on the plural candidates of▵f from the frequency of the maximum power spectrum. SOLUTION: A DFT circuit 2 converts a received input data group 1 which is inputted and sampled into a discrete signal on the frequency axis from a time base signal. The converted discrete signal is squared and the power spectrum is obtained. The power spectrum outputted from the DFT circuit 2 is inputted to a MAX search circuit 3. The MAX search circuit 3 retrieves the maximum value of the power level of the inputted power spectrum within an observed range, obtains and outputs the frequency f1 of the spectrum, where the power spectrum becomes the largest. A frequency operation circuit 60 operates the frequency f1 obtained in the MAX search circuit 3, and it is outputted as the estimation value fEST of▵f.
