The invention is based on an electrical switch having a switch lever which starting from a park position, has successively in the one direction a jogging position, an intermittent position, and at least one continuous operating position, having at least two contact links which can be controlled via the switch lever, and having at least four connections of which two are electrically conductively connected to one another in the park position, the other two are electrically conductively connected to one another in the intermittent position, in addition to the first two, and, in the continuous operating position, two are electrically conductively connected to one another, paired differently, via the contact links in each case. Such a switch is provided for controlling the windscreen wiper system of a motor vehicle. In an electrical switch according to the invention the two connections which are connected to one another in the park position are now separated from one another in the jogging position, and the two connections which are connected to one another in the continuous operating position are connected to one another via a contact link.
