Window wiper systems for motor vehicles are known in which the effective length of the wiper blade can be varied in order to be able to reach the corner areas of the windows. A window wiper system of this kind is to be optimised according to the invention in that a shorter additional wiper blade which extends in parallel with the wiper blade and is displaceably mounted is attached to the wiper blade in the area of its free end and can be displaced via a control which is dependent on the angle of swing.
