A supporting bracket (10) has a guide tube (13) for accommodating a push-in mandrel (9) which can be attached to the chain-saw. The push-in mandrel (9) is in turn accommodated in the holder of a pivotable protective hood (1) for the chain-saw. The holder of the protective hood (1) consists of a mounting flange (4), mounted on the screw fitting of the saw arm (7), a support plate (2), a hollow spindle (3) into which the push-in mandrel (9) can be pushed, as well as an end stop (6) and a spring-mounted pin which can engage in existing bores (14). The pin, in order to enclose the saw arm (7) so as to prevent accidents, can be pushed into the bore (provided for this purpose) in the flange (4). By horizontal extension of the mounting flange (4) in the direction of the rear handle, the pivot of the protective hood can be shifted back beyond the axis of the drive gear of the saw wheel; the supporting bracket (10) is lengthened accordingly for holding on workbenches. <IMAGE>
