PURPOSE:To identify three conditions of dry, dew formation and frosting by providing a pair of electrodes on a detection element having a smaller dielectric constant than ice. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic 1 with a smaller dielectric constant than that of ice is used as detection element and a pair of electrodes 2 and 3 are formed on the top thereof 1. Terminals 4 and 5 are separately connected to the electrodes 2 and 3 and the impedance of the ceramics 1 is measured therewith. Specific examples of the detection element are the one mainly composed of a composite titanium oxide of an ilmenite type crystal structure, such as MgTiO3, ZnTiO3 and FeTiO3, forsterite and steartite of talc-MgO-BaTiO2 system, BaO-TiO2- NdO3/2 system and Mg/SiO2 system. The impedance between the terminals 4 and 5 gives a large value in the dry condition, a small value in the dew formation condition and an intermediate value in the frosting condition. |
