The metallic element for securing a railway line to a sleeper comprises at least two parts, both made of metal strip. One part consists of a lower section incorporating anchor teeth (7) lying parallel to the rail which are cast into the sleeper (4) and an upper section incorporating a vertical portion which abuts the rail flange. - The upper section extends away from the rail to form a cylindrical aperture (12) and a horizontal support surface (5). The second part of the element is anchored into the sleeper further away from the rail and is welded to the support surface (5) of the first part. A clamp (3) engages into the cylindrical aperture (12) causing its opposite ends to bear onto the rail flange and support surface (5) respectively.(1/7)
