PURPOSE:To improve an operating characteristic by polishing or cutting the end face of a ferrule mounted with an optical fiber diagonally to the optical axis thereof. CONSTITUTION:A laser diode chip (a), a rod lens 2, a diagonally polished or cut ferrule 4, and an optical fiber 5 mounted to the ferrule 4 are provided. The fiber 5 is also polished or cut diagonally, and the light emitted from the chip (a) is changed in the optical path by the lens 2 and is focused at one end face 5a of the diagonally polished or cut fiber 5, but the end face 5a is diagonal to the optical axis; therefore, the Fresnel-reflected light on the end face 5a is prevented from incidence again to the chip (a). The influence of the near end reflection is eliminated. |
