PURPOSE:To improve the responsiveness and positioning accuracy of a vertical rolling mill by providing a cylinder for adjusting width interposed between a screw shaft for broadside rolling down and a journal box to a cylinder frame and energizing the journal box with a pull back frame. CONSTITUTION:A screw shaft 6 is rotated with a worm wheel 12 to move the same in the axial center direction, by which upper and lower journal boxes 3, 4 are slid with a cylinder 20 for adjusting width in the width direction of a plate and the reference position of a roll 2 is set. The movable parts in the operation for adjusting the width of a rolling material 1 are only the roll 2, the boxes 3, 4, and a pull back frame 17, and the sliding parts thereof are only between the box 3, the frame 17 and a housing 5. Therefore, both inertia and frictional resistance are small and the responsiveness and the accuracy in width adjustment are remarkably improved. |
