PURPOSE:To make a high tension chain homogeneous and to enhance the toughness of the weld zones at low temp. by continuously heating the chain to a specified temp. while passing the chain through a furnace, holding the chain for a specified time, and quenching it by passing through a cooling vessel. CONSTITUTION:A high tension chain is continuously heated to the AC3 point +100 deg.C- the AC3 point +250 deg.C while passing the chain through a vertical furnace for continuous heat treatment, and it is held for <=10min. The heat treated chain is quenched by passing through a cooling vessel filled with a refrigerant and placed under the bottom of the furnace with a device for preventing air permeation in-between. It is preferable to carry out tempering at the AC1 point -150 deg.C- the AC1 point after the quenching.
