The handler is for loads on a variable surface, such as stairs. It is a form of trolley with ascending/descending features such as a wheel with a safety feeler and brake. The brake (6) consists of a toothed wheel (31) fixed by dampers on a support wheel of the trolley (15) and an arm (35) pivots (36) to form a pawl. The pivoting of this between positive wheel locking and unlocking is controlled by the feeler (5), when it detects a variation in level.
