PURPOSE:To make simple a spacing means and to reduce the drive force for spacing by such a construction that the spacing between trays laid one over another at a certain spacing is enlarged by an spacing enlarging member and the elastical force of an elasticity means. CONSTITUTION:In a sorter 1 equipped with two or more compartments for housing trays 5 (51-510), two adjoining trays 5 keep a certain spacing to each other by means of a cylindrical member 18, which is wound by a coil spring 12 (121-1210) which is actuated to enlarge the spacing between the two trays 5. Vertical motion of trays 5 are permitted by winding up or unwinding a wire 8 with a wind-up pulley 17, which is rotated by a stepping motor 9. A cam member 10 having three grooves 10a to form a smooth cam curve is borne in a specific position in order to have easy reception of sheets by means of enlargement of the spacing between the tray 5 to receive the sheets 3 and the tray lying thereover. Then this cam member 10 is operated by the abovementioned motor 9. |
