PURPOSE:To prevent an inspector during inspection from being caught in a rotary section of an engine by providing in a control of the engine a means for prohibiting restart of the engine while bonnet opening signals are generated even if requirements for restarting the engine are satisfied. CONSTITUTION:A control of an engine for a vehicle is provided with an engine stopping and starting means operated under requirements determined by the combination of throttle signal, clutch signal and transmission gear position signal, a bonnet switch 4 operated by opening the bonnet and a starter operating prohibiting means for prohibiting the operation of a starter while the bonnet opening signal is generated. When a driver opens a lock of the bonnet and asks an outside third party to inspect the engine and others, the starter driving signal S23 which is the output of AND gate G5 does not become ''1'' and the engine is not restarted even if the driver carries out carelessly the operation of restart, since the opening signal S9 is left at ''0''. |
