A symmetrical latch lock has a spring-loaded latch, which moves forward and back in a lock casing (2), and which is actuated by two followers (9, 10), which are symmetrically positioned around the casing's horizontal longitudinal axis. At least the one follower can be drawn to locked position, wherein it prevents the latch from moving inwards to the lock housing (2). The latch is divided into two separate movable pieces, a hammer piece (3) and a slide (4). The slide (4) can move in the hammer's (3) lengthwise direction and is fitted with a load transfer plate (6) which transfers the hammer (3) inwards into the lock housing (2)and with load transfer plates (5) which, in the same direction, are functionally connected with the followers (9, 10). The resulting symmetrical lock has a simple construction, where the followers move easily but generally in such a way that their functional position is clear to anyone using the lock.<IMAGE> |
