Method and device for resistance butt-welding of strands or cables

In the welding together of cable or strand ends using the resistance butt-welding method, the two cable ends are clamped into the welding/clamping jaws for cutting and not reclamped between the cutting and the welding operation. One of the clamping jaws is displaceable in the axial direction of the cable ends and the second clamping device is displaceable perpendicularly thereto. The clamping jaw which is displaceable perpendicularly to the cable axis has three positions. The central position is the welding position. In the front position, the cable end clamped in it is cut and, in the rear position, the cable end clamped in the other welding jaw is cut.
