PURPOSE:To enable to conduct intermittent printing such as naming printing on a rotary printing machine without any irregularity in printed images, by a method wherein a drive source for a form cylinder and a drive source for feeding a material to be printed are provided in separate systems, and the material to be printed is fed at an arbitrary speed while a printing plate fitted onto the form cylinder is not opposed to an impression cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A (main) motor 43 for constantly driving a form cylinder 35 to rotate and a drive source, for example, a stepping motor 51, for a feeding cylinder 29 for feeding the material to be printed between the form cylinder 35 and an impression cylinder 28 are separately provided, and the material to be printed is fed at a velocity (a high velocity, a low velocity or stoppage) different from the circumferential velocity (printing speed) of the form cylinder 35 while the printing plate fitted to the cylinder 35 is not opposed to the cylinder 28, whereby printing pitch is varied. Since the form cylinder 35 is continuously rotated, irregularity in printed images can be prevented from being generated. |
