The present invention serves for removing and transferring samples from a shielded and inertable region. Installed for this purpose in a shielded chamber (1) is a telescopic arm (2) which is fitted with a sample holder (3, 7). The telescopic arm (2) can be drawn into the chamber (1) together with sample containers (30) located in the holder (3), and can be operated with the aid of a spindle (4) which is extended outward in a gas-tight fashion through the chamber housing (14). Radiation loading of the operation personnel is reduced to a minimum by virtue of very compact design and special shielding measures. <IMAGE>
