In photoinitiated emulsion polymerisation, the mixing of the emulsion is achieved only by an introduced fluid, where the fluid, preferably an inert gas or the pumped emulsion, is introduced into the emulsion in such a way that the flow which occurs is substantially parallel to the reaction vessel walls through which flow can take place. If a coating on the inside of the walls through which flow can take place is occasionally removed by mechanical means, trouble-free long-term operation is possible. <IMAGE>
