The invention relates to a sheet-aligning device (10) which can be arranged above or below a V-shaped clamping point (44) which is produced between an impression cylinder (46) and the pressure rollers (48). Protruding into the guide path of a sheet (20) is at least one row of stop plates (30 or 61) which stops the sheet (20) arriving in the guide path. The position of the sheet (20) is checked by sensors (36 or 62) mounted on the stop plates (30 or 61). The pressure rollers (34 or 48) are then pivoted into the pressure position in which they hold the sheet (20) firmly between the cylinder (32 or 46) and the pressure rollers (34 or 48). When the stop plates (30 or 61) are pivoted away, the sheet (20) is compressed slightly and is fed in the aligned position to the impression cylinder (46) from where it is drawn in for printing. <IMAGE>
