These adjustable stators have a cavity, which accommodates the rotor, and are elastically deformable. The stator is enclosed by a metallic jacket which, distributed over its circumference, has a plurality of U- or V-shaped beads which project inwards and whose internal width is reduced when the stator is adjusted. In order to facilitate adjustment and effect a largely uniform adjustment, the beads have a predetermined breaking point which, upon a certain deformation of the stator, results in the jacket being subdivided into a plurality of segments. Expediently, the predetermined breaking point is situated on the base of the beads; there they have a considerably reduced wall thickness, e.g. by disposing a groove.
