PURPOSE:To sharply improve resistance to leakage by press-inserting a battery case in a draw mold section of a caulking jig and caulking the periphery of a metal container section toward inside. CONSTITUTION:A battery case 10 whose loading of a power generating element 22, sealing plate section 16, and gasket 20 has been completed is press-inserted in the draw mold section 32 of a caulking jig 30 and is forcedly advanced until its top surface section collides with a pushing plate 34. As a result, the outside surface of the external side section 14 of a container section 12 is caulked inside while it is being made to press-contact and slide-contact with the draw mold section 32 of the caulking jig 30. As a result, a sealing gasket 18 is tightened between the container section 12 and sealing plate section 16, thus and a button- type battery is manufactured. The caulking jig 30 is made of a ceramic material whose principal component is silicon carbide. As a result, the battery case 10 is processed smoothly and uniformly without being deformed by the abrasion against the draw mold section 32. |
