What is provided is a manually controlled cutting-out apparatus, in which rotary-angle signals corresponding to a predetermined position of the cutting tool (16) connected to the cutting head (10) can be generated as a result of the rotation of the cutting head (10). These are divided into coordinate components and fed to four-quadrant controllers (41, 42). The drive devices (21, 20) for a slide (9) carrying the cutting head (10) and for a frame (6), in which the slide (9) is movable in one coordinate direction, the frame (6) being movable in the other coordinate direction, execute control. Preferably, the feed speed can be adjusted by means of the same handle device (13) by which the cutting head (10) can be rotated. The operator merely has to hold the cutting tool in its predetermined position along the cutting-pattern line (40) and, if appropriate, readjust its direction. The feed of the slide (9) and of the frame (6) is obtained automatically according to the particular rotary position. Resilient holding-down devices and/or optically acting follow-up devices are advantageously provided. Furthermore, a resetting mode and a high-speed mode are preferably possible. <IMAGE>
