A process and an apparatus for transferring split-slab mouldings onto moulding carriers, especially pallets, the split-slab mouldings being conveyed on a feed track so as to lie longitudinally relative to the conveying direction, characterised in that the loading region of an auxiliary pallet is arranged at right angles to the feed track, the loading region being followed by a transfer station having holding battens for the split-slab mouldings and a plunge table for taking over the auxiliary pallet. The split-slab mouldings pass into the loading region of the auxiliary pallet and are successively conveyed at uniform intervals onto the intermittently moved auxiliary pallet. The auxiliary pallet is then moved together with the split-slab mouldings into the transfer station. Here, the split-slab mouldings are retained by the holding battens, after which the plunge table plunges away downwards together with the auxiliary pallet and comes into the region of a transverse conveyor, and the auxiliary pallet is delivered onto a return track which conveys the auxiliary pallet to a lifting table which lifts the auxiliary pallet level with the loading region and feeds it to this again. As soon as the plunge table has delivered the auxiliary pallet to the return track, the plunge table takes over a pallet which is fed to it from a pallet feed track. The plunge table then returns with the pallet into the transfer station, takes over the split-slab mouldings retained there and once again moves downwards together with the pallet and with the mouldings located on it, plunges into the transverse conveyor and transfers the pallet to this for further conveyance, for example into an elevator.
