A control lever of a shift stop is pivotably mounted on a cover-rail/espagnolette constructional unit on the outside of the cover rail. The control lever can be prestressed in a different pivoting direction for fastening on the right and for fastening on the left. The control lever cooperates with a part which passes through the cover rail and which is fastened to the espagnolette. Provided on this part and on the control lever for fastening on the right and fastening on the left are different pairings of fastening elements which are located opposite one another transversely relative to the longitudinal extension of the cover-rail/espagnolette constructional unit.
