<p>An insulating system for walls (13) of furnaces, kilns and the like including apparatus and method for retaining the system in place. The system includes a crisscross pattern of insulation blankets (21) positioned against the wall (13), a vapor barrier (22) and high temperature modular insulation blocks (20) positioned against the vapor barrier (22). The apparatus and methods for retaining the system in place utilize studs (10) welded to the wall (13) upon which the insulation blanket (21) and vapor barrier (22) are impaled and between which are positioned the modular blocks (20). A block retaining pin (11) with a notched portion (17) midway thereof cooperates with an aperture (14) in the end of the stud (10) permitting the pin (11) to pass through the aperture (14) of the stud (10) piercing the wall (24) of block (20) to retain the block (20) while the pin (11) is rotated to provided an interlock of the notched portion (17) of the pin (11) with the aperture (14) of the stud (10).</p> |
