Work bench which is easily movable and is suitable for one- and two-man assembly work (dismantling, machine and vehicle maintenance and the like) up to a working height of about 2.8 m, the step side of which provides at any step height sufficient and stable movement space for lateral and overhead work after part of the work top, which can be locked in the end positions, has been tilted up (or removed). The tilt-up top can also be designed for accommodating portable circular saws, milling machines and the like. Recesses in the work top allow vertical workpieces to be clamped by means of commercially available clamping devices. Ample storage space is provided for tools and workpieces. <IMAGE>
