In a process for the weighing of bulk material, in which the bulk material is fed to a balance container by way of a metering band, the feed quantity of the metering band is divided into a main metering stream and a fine-metering stream and the main metering stream is guided independently of the fine-metering stream into a collecting container, in which the corresponding bulk material can be stored and from which it can be fed to the main metering stream again during the next weighing operation. In a weighing device which has a metering band, a shut-off device controllable by the balance, and a balance container, a closable collecting device for the main metering stream and a device for forming a controllable fine-metering stream separable from the main metering stream are arranged in the region of the discharge of the metering band. <IMAGE>
