A walker device (10) aids crippled or infirm persons to rise from a sitting position to a standing position. Four generally upright legs (12, 14, 16, 18) connected by members (28, 30) have handgrips (32, 33). Extending between the front legs (12, 18) are supports (34, 36, 38) with the top support (38) having handgrips (42, 44) for being grasped by a person attempting to rise from a sitting position to a standing position. Braces (70) connect the front and rear legs. Elongate flat plates (48, 50) extend between the bottom of the side legs and have rubber sheets (66) fixed thereon. Extensions (58, 60) prevent the walker from pivoting about the bottom of the legs. In use, a seated person places his feet on the nonskid surfaces (66) of plates (48, 50), grasps handgrips (42, 44), and pulls himself to a standing position where he can then utilize the walker as a support when walking.
|
