<p>Method and apparatus for detecting the fertile and infertile phases of the human female menstrual cycle based upon observation of cyclic volumetric and gravimetric changes in cervico-vaginal fluid. The apparatus comprises an aspirator (8) for collection of cervico-vaginal fluid, the aspirator (8) having calibrations (20) for easy volumetric quantification. The aspirator (8) is designed to collect fluid from the posterior fornix (36) of the vagina (32) close to the cervix (30) and prevent perforation of vaginal or cervical tissue. In its preferred form, the aspirator (8) is sterilely packaged and disposable after one use.</p> |
