A fluid mass flow meter is proposed which is used for determining the mass of a flowing medium in a flow duct. The mass flow meter comprises a flow duct (2) in which a thin strip (1) having a longitudinal edge (1') is clamped firmly in a wall (2') of the flow duct (2) and is caused to oscillate (excited into oscillations) by electromagnetic forces by means of an excitation coil (energising coil) (3), the amplitude of which oscillations in the case of constant excitation is a function of the damping and is used to determine the fluid mass flow. <IMAGE>
