The plug gauge (1, 16) has four guide channels (guide ducts) (14, 20) which are arranged on a cross-sectional plane transversely with respect to the plug gauge axis and in which probe spheres (13, 18) are supported such that they can move. The probe spheres (13, 18) are connected to spring wires (12, 21) and are operatively connected to inductive measurement probes (2, 17) directly or via the spring wires (12, 21). When the plug gauge (1, 16) is introduced into a hole, the probe spheres (13, 18) rest against the wall of the hole, are moved inwards and, as a result of the vertical component of the displacement movement, displace the measurement inserts on the inductive measurement probes (2, 17), as a result of which the size of the hole diameter is detected, evaluated and indicated (displayed). <IMAGE>
