PURPOSE:To improve greatly the sound quality of an analog additional signal, by recording an analog signal with a recording head exclusive for analog signal and then recording a PCM signal on the analog signal by a fixed head exclusive for data signal. CONSTITUTION:Stereophonic left and right signals are recorded on magnetic tracks 5 and 6 with magnetic head elements 4-1 and 4-2 by an analog signal recording magnetic head 4. Then a PCM coded data signal is supplied to a magnetic head 7 and then recorded on magnetic tracks 8-15 by magnetic head elements 7-1-7-8. In this case, the analog signal has a larger wavelength than the data signal and therefore recorded with a large depth and nearly over the entire region of the magnetic layer of a magnetic tape. Then the parts of the tracks 8-15 are rewritten to PCM data signals only at the surface part of the magnetic layer when they passes over the head 7. In such a way, the sound quality can be greatly improved for an analog additional signal. |
