PURPOSE:To generate speedily and smoothly an index with high precision, by retrieving document information with a keywork in a keyword storage part, and storing its page and line addresses in a page and line storage part. CONSTITUTION:A previously defined succeeding character string is extracted from a document in a document file part 100 by a keyword candidate extracting part 101 as a keyword and stored in a keyword storing part 102. A page and line address detection controlling part 104 reads keywords, one by one, out of the keyword storing part 102 to retrieve the same character string as the keyword in the document stored in the document file part 100. The page and line addresses of the character string in the document are outputted and stored in the page and line storing part 105. Those stored page and line addresses are sent out to another device by an output controlling part 106. |
