<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture hydrocarbon from lower alcohol with high selectivity and slight deterioration of catalyst by using modified zeolite obtd. by ion-exchanging crystalline aluminosilicate belonging to a monoclinic system for a compound of a IIA or IIB group metal. CONSTITUTION:When lower olefin is manufactured by bringing lower alcohol or its either into contact with zeolite catalyst, crystalline aluminosilicate belonging to a monoclinic system and having a composition represented by the formula (where M is >=1 kind of metallic cation, (n) is the valence of the cation, and Z is 0-40) is ion-exchanged for a compound of a IIA or IIB group metal to substitute at least a part of M in the formula, and the resulting modified zeolite is used as said catalyst. The crystalline aluminosilicate has a powder X-ray diffraction diagram showing interplanar spacing in the table.</p> |
