PURPOSE:To decrease the abrasion of a casting mold and to improve the quality of an ingot product by combining a flat plate-like mold body consisting of a blank material such as copper, a copper alloy, ceramics or the like and a back frame having a recess to serve as a conduit passage for cooling water on one side in such a way that the surface having the recess faces the rear of the mold body. CONSTITUTION:A casting mold body 1 is formed of a sheet of solid flat plate consisting of a blank material such as copper, a copper alloy, ceramics or the like, and a back frame 2 is punched with a recess 3 to serve as a conduit passage for cooling water on one side. The frame 2 and the body 1 are so combined that the surface having the recess 2 of the former faces the rear of the latter. Therefore, the cooling water flows from an inflow hole 4 for cooling water through the passage, i.e. the recess 3, and flows out through a discharge hole 5. The mold is thus cooled uniformly over the entire surface, and the nonuniform cooling in the surface of the casting mold body is eliminated, whereby the abrasion of the casting mold is decreased and the quality of the ingot product is improved. |
