PURPOSE:To speed up the conversion of data read out of a main storage device, by providing the function of data conversion to the main storage side and performing error checking operation and data conversion simultaneously when the data are read. CONSTITUTION:An information proecessor 2 sends out a memory address, request code, read data conversion code, and request signal to the main storage control part 4 of the main storage device 1. The control part 4 receives the request signal to decode the request code and decides on an address of access to the main storage part 3 to send out the address to the main storage part 3. Simultaneously, the control part 4 decodes the read data conversion code and reports a converting method to a read data conversion part 5. The data read out of the storage part 3 are checked by a read data checking and correcting part 6 and if an error of the data occurs and it is correctable, the corrected data is returned to the storage part 3 to inform the control part 4 of that. The conversion part 5 converts the data in accordance with the reported converting method and sends the converted data to the processor 2. |
