PURPOSE:To facilitate the modification of software and hardware, by recognizing a status normally as a general status, and recognizing other statuses at the request of a control side. CONSTITUTION:When a printer 10 is short of forms, a judgement part 12 judges a status 28 andthe code C6 of a status signal is displayed at a section 11 and also sent to a CPU50. Consequently, the CPU50 recognizes the shortage of forms. When a sequence error occurs in the printer 10, the judgement part 12 judges a status 33 and the code E of a status 21 is displayed at the section 11 and sent to the CPU50. To know the concrete contents of the error, the CPU50 instructs a status request part 51 to report the status in a status group LB. The judgement part 121 displays the code E3 of the status 33 at the section 11 by the instruction and also sends it to the CPU50. Then, the CPU50 recognizes the sequence error. |
