The invention relates to an arrangement related to a piston 3 moving back and forth in a cylinder for successively increasing and decreasing the volume of the compression chamber 8 in the cylinder 1, e.g. for use in internal combustion engines. In the end of the piston facing the combustion chamber, a conical seat 5 for a disc 6 is arranged in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the piston, arranged to be able to deflect inwards to a variable degree towards the piston in dependence of pressures in the cylinder above a certain value. Hereby, the magnitude of the compression chamber is changed. The seat 5 is formed for enabling said inwards deflection of the disc.
