PURPOSE:To improve the fitting and forming properties of a roof panel and reduce its weight, by making a front and a rear roof rails and side roof rails of inner and outer plates to provide each rail with a closed cross section. CONSTITUTION:Both the ends of a front and a rear roof rails 2, 3 are coupled to the front and rear ends of side roof rails 8 which are made of outer and inner plates 8a, 8b so that the side roof rails have a closed cross section. The ends of the roof rails 2, 3 are also coupled to front and rear pillars 10, 11. A part of the outer plate 8a of each side roof rail 8 is secured in the face of a lip 9 provided as a bonding surface 15 for the side edge 1c of a roof panel 1. A closed-cross-section structure is composed of the roof rails 2, 3, 8 and the pillars 10, 11. This constitution makes it very easy to couple the rails and the pillars to each other. |
