PURPOSE:To obtain a reproducing device which reduces the abrasion of a base plate, has less space loss, and reproduces a short-wavelength easily, by providing a nearly conical base plate which is rotatable around a rotating shaft and either cylindrical or in a cavity shape capable of transmitting laser light. CONSTITUTION:The reproducing device is equipped with the nearly conic base plate which is rotatable around the rotating shaft and either cylindrical or in a cavity shape capable of transmitting the laser light, a magnetic thin film for transfer formed at the outer circumferent of the base plate, a laser generating means, and a photodetecting means. For example, laser light from a laser generator 15 is reflected by half-mirrors 16 and 18, passed through the base plate 12 and magnetic thin plate 13, and reflected by a reflecting film 14 to reach a photodetector 17. A magnetic recording medium 11 is in a rolling friction state while contacting the external surface of the reflective film 14 and the reflective film 14, magnetic thin film 13, and base plate 12 rotate around the rotating shaft running in the centers of them according to the movement of the magnetic recording medium 11 to transfer recording information by a signal magnetic field from the magnetic recording medium 11. |
