Ashtray, especially for motor vehicles

It is known to provide ashtrays with an extinguishing device for smouldering cigarettes or the like, consisting of an absorbent surface which is kept constantly moist with water. Such an extinguishing device is to be further developed for the purposes of the simplest possible use of an ashtray provided therewith, in that the resting surface is designed as a driveable conveying device which interacts with a low-lying collection chamber of the ashtray.
